Warwick's housing runs from Georgian townhouses within sight of the castle to the newer streets of Chase Meadow, Warwick Gates and Woodloes Park. As a Warwickshire family business, we know what a good tarmac driveway company in Warwick should deliver: a proper base, clean edges and a drive that stays level. Stonetech Paving rebuilds worn drives, widens frontages and replaces block paving that has sunk or filled with weeds. Taking us on as your tarmac driveway contractor in Warwick keeps the whole job in one pair of hands, from dig-out to edging. We cover every part of CV34, including Emscote, Myton and the Packmores, plus Leamington Spa, Whitnash and Kenilworth.
Whether it is an older drive on Woodloes Park or a newer frontage at Chase Meadow, we build it the same way. The old surface comes out, a compacted MOT Type 1 sub-base goes in, followed by a binder course and a hot-rolled surface course. Block or granite sett edging finishes the line, which looks right beside both red-brick terraces and modern estate homes, and drainage is built in where the fall demands it. Our tarmac drives carry a 10 year guarantee, we are fully insured, and our TrustATrader rating is 5.0.

Every drive is built from the ground up, so the finish you see is backed by a base that stays level for years.
Full dig-out, a compacted MOT Type 1 sub-base, then a binder course and a hot-rolled surface course for a smooth, hard-wearing drive.
Where the base is sound, a new tarmac surface over the old one gives a fresh, even finish for less than a full rebuild.
Classic black, or red tarmac for a warmer look. Contrasting bands and borders can mark out parking bays and paths.
A tarmac driveway with a border of block paving, granite setts or kerbs holds the edges firm and frames the house.
Potholes, sunken patches and failed edges cut out square, the base re-compacted and new hot tarmac rolled in flush.
Channel drains, soakaways and falls to a border so rainwater has somewhere to go, plus help with dropped kerb applications.
Alongside tarmac, homeowners in Warwick can choose block paving or a resin driveway, add a patio at the back, or have us build a dropped kerb so the new drive connects properly to the road.

Hairline cracks that widen each winter usually point to water getting into the base.
A surface that sheds grit or breaks into holes has worn through its binder.
Standing water means the falls have sunk or there is nowhere for rain to drain.
Growth through the joints and bulges near trees break the surface apart from below.
Sunken areas where the car parks show the sub-base was too thin for the load.
Overlaying is often viable at Warwick Gates and Chase Meadow, where drives are relatively young and the base is generally sound. On older Emscote and Coten End properties, where a drive may have been laid straight onto garden soil, or where street and garden trees have sent roots under the surface, digging out completely gives a far longer life for the money.
10 year guaranteeWarwick town centre is a conservation area, and the Georgian and Victorian houses around Smith Street, Coten End and Bridge End often have narrow frontages where a tarmac drive needs a neat sett or block border to sit well. Bridge End and Myton lie close to the Avon on lower ground, so drainage needs careful thought. In Emscote and the Packmores, terraces leave little room for a car, while Warwick Gates, Chase Meadow and Woodloes Park have more generous plots. On planning, paving over more than 5 square metres of front garden with an impermeable surface needs consent unless the rainwater is directed onto a permeable part of the garden or a soakaway. Dropped kerbs in Warwick are approved by Warwickshire County Council, and we can guide you through the application.
This part of Warwickshire is home ground for us, and we work throughout Warwick as well as Leamington Spa, Kenilworth, Whitnash and Radford Semele.
We also cover these nearby areas with the same team and the same guarantees.
What happens after you call, from the first visit to parking on your new drive.
We measure up, check levels and drainage, talk through edging and colour, then send a fixed written quote.
The old surface is removed and a compacted MOT Type 1 sub-base is laid to the right depth for your vehicles.
Edging is set on concrete and drains or falls are built in, so the edges stay put and water runs away.
A binder course goes down first, then the hot surface course is laid and rolled to a smooth, even finish.
We leave the site tidy, walk the drive with you and explain when you can park, usually after 24 to 48 hours.

Not sure what you need? 01926 825 684Small cracks can be cleaned, dried and sealed with a tarmac crack filler. Potholes and larger failures need the damaged tarmac cut out square, the base checked and re-compacted, and new hot tarmac laid and rolled level with the surrounding surface. If cracks are spreading across the whole drive, the problem is usually the sub-base, and a professional survey will tell you whether a repair or a resurface is the better spend.
Scrub the moss off with a stiff brush and a mild detergent solution, or use a moss killer made for hard surfaces, leave it for the time stated, then brush and rinse. A pressure washer on a low setting helps, but a high setting can loosen the stones in the surface. Cutting back overhanging branches and improving drainage on shaded edges stops it coming back.
For a family driveway used by cars, we lay a binder course and a surface course, with the finished tarmac usually 30mm to 50mm thick on top of a compacted MOT Type 1 sub-base. Heavier vehicles such as vans or motorhomes need a deeper sub-base and thicker layers. The sub-base matters as much as the tarmac, because that is what stops dips and cracks forming later.
Sweep off loose debris first, then scrub stubborn dirt with warm soapy water and a stiff brush. Use a specialist tarmac cleaner or degreaser for stains. A pressure washer on a low setting is fine for algae, but avoid high pressure, which can strip the fine stone from the surface. Regular sweeping and clearing leaves from the edges keeps the drive looking newer for longer.
A new tarmac driveway in Warwick typically costs between £40 and £70 per square metre. Older town-centre and Emscote properties can need a deeper dig and more hand work where access is tight, while drives on the newer estates are usually simpler. Removing old concrete, choosing setts or block edging, adding drainage on low ground near the river and creating a new dropped kerb all affect the total. You can usually walk on a new tarmac driveway straight away, but wait at least 24 to 48 hours before driving or parking on it. In hot weather the surface stays softer for longer, so avoid turning the steering wheel while stationary and keep car jacks, motorbike stands and skips off it for the first few weeks.
Blot fresh oil straight away with a cloth or paper towel. For older stains, cover the area with an absorbent such as cat litter, sawdust or baking soda, leave it for a few hours and sweep it up. Then scrub with a degreaser made for tarmac, or washing-up liquid and warm water, and rinse well. Avoid solvents such as white spirit, which soften the bitumen.
A tarmac driveway is surfaced with tarmacadam, crushed stone bound together with bitumen and laid hot, then rolled smooth. It is the same family of material used on roads, which is why it copes so well with daily parking. It is quick to lay, low maintenance and usually more affordable than block paving or resin bound surfaces.
A well laid tarmac driveway lasts 15 to 20 years, and often longer with a little care. The biggest factors are a properly compacted sub-base, the right thickness for the vehicles using it, and good drainage. Filling small cracks early and keeping the edges clear of weeds and leaves helps it reach the top of that range.
As a guide, a tarmac driveway costs £40 to £70 per square metre. Larger, open drives with a sound base sit at the lower end. Small or awkward drives, deep dig-outs, old concrete removal, block or granite edging and extra drainage push the price up. A free survey gives you a fixed figure for your own drive.
